Season of Thankfulness!

I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonders. ~ Psalm 9:1

This verse not only sums up the past 6 years in Mexico & Cuba, it also describes the very reason why I write blogs.  It's not to bring attention to all the amazing & beautiful places I have visited, but to share of the AMAZING & BEAUTIFUL God we serve and what HE has done with these simple cracked jars of clay!

I apologize for not posting sooner. I was waiting for the Lord to reveal the next move. It all started earlier this year, the Lord began to prompt in me the need to leave Mexico.  Truth be told, I thought I would never leave Mexico. But it seems, God had better plans. Soon, I would know it was a "thus says the Lord" thing. And though my heart longs for Latin America, my desire to obey God and follow in His footsteps are much stronger & deeper. So, on October 12, 2015 I stuffed my lil Toyo RAV4 and drove back up to Utah.

I left my .... gallbladder.... in Ensenada!

Yeah, as I was preparing to come back, I thought it wise to get a physical before heading back to the states and low & behold, the doctor found a large gallstone in my gallbladder. (Side note: great thing about doctor visits in Mexico, they have the ultra-sound machine right there in their office ready to wave it around your body to make sure your organs are ok). Upon further testing, it appeared it was highly inflamed & greatly affecting my liver so it had to come out!  Praise the Lord! Once again, this doctor saved my life. Pathology report showed an ugly blackened organ on its way to cancer!  The first time God used Dr. Galicia in my life - 5 years ago, he told me, "God knows you are busy doing His work, you don't have time to deal with cancer, so He made science justify taking it out." JEHOVA RAFFA (the Lord who heals)!

Living it up in Utah - a week in my life

Today is a beautiful fall day! God is so good, He delights to bless us with the little things in life.  So His plans included bringing me back in the fall! Sort of a candy-trail to lure me back to Utah.  :) I have been back for over a month and am currently working as a therapist at a local Chiropractic Office 3 days a week. The other 2 days of the week I work on Latin America ministry stuff as well as prepare for the Spanish class I have started with a group of about 8 people.  I am blessed to be living with Terry & Barbara Kester who so graciously opened their home to me.  Monica is here too so we are now roomies once again!

As far as ministry, I will be serving with the up-coming Spanish service as we welcome Pastor Emanuel Morales who will join us in reaching the 50 thousand hispanics we currently have in this valley.  This is answered prayer from when I first moved to Utah in 2006!

CO-MISSION - My next missionary role....

Last Thursday, our ministry (Latin America Missions) hosted an info nite at Calvary Mt. View Church, where this new venture was presented to current supporters and those interested in Kingdom-building in Latin America.  It is an amazing vision God has given & confirmed.  Our pastor, Joe McCormick presented it so eloquently and I will do my best to explain it here.

What is Co-Mission?

Co-Mission is the name of this ministry for and through Latin America. Co-Mission's vision is to raise up God-fearing Hispanic men & women for Kingdom building in Latin America and the world.

It will encompass a 5 phase training & equipping program as follows:

Phase 1:  School of Ministry for men & women - More than just any SOM, the goal is to train up a new generation of Godly men & women who desire to be used to reach their country and the world. The vision is to plant several SOM's throughout South & Central America, as well as several SOM's in Mexico.

Phase 2: School of Ministry Practicum - This phase has the students interning for several months at local churches  as well as evangelizing in another third-world country (among them, Cuba).

Phase 3: (Optional for specific call/country) - Career/Trade Skills & Combat Training. If needed, students will use this time to learn a  trade or a skill useful in obtaining entrance to closed countries (should the student feel led by God).  This skill will be their reason for entering these countries. Combat Training will consist of being training in Marine Corp Martial Arts Program (MCMAP).

Phase 4: Church-planting/Other ministry opportunities - Those feeling led to church plant in their own country would have the option of skipping phase 3 & begin their ministries with the guidance & equipping from Co-mission. Those feeling led to enter ministries abroad, such as ghost operations, human-trafficking ministries, etc. would be connected with ministries Co-Mission works closely with in these areas of ministry.

Phase 5: Mentorship/Support - More than a phase, it's a commitment. Co-Mission commits to have a life-long relationship with its graduates & provide support, resources, & additional training as needed including SERE training (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, & Escape)

What is my role in Co-Mission?

I am the administrator of this Latin America Ministry as well as 'headquarters' of Co-Mission.

I am currently involved in the development & networking phase as we work on making this vision a reality.  In the coming months, I will be traveling to conferences & churches, representing Co-Mission, making the ministry known to future students and supporters of the vision.

Sounds like an impossible vision, how will you do this?

With the help of the creator of Co-Mission - GOD!   I can't tell you how excited I am for this KINGDOM BUILDING Project!  I hope you are too!  Please join us, in praying this massive vision into reality! Pray God uses Co-Mission to train & equip Latin American Christians to reach their countries, as well as infiltrate those persecuted countries as the Holy Spirit leads.

PRAY, PRAY, PRAY for those of us involved in Co-Mission,
for the students who will go through this program,
and for the world it will impact to reach the lost for Christ!

Matthew 28:18-20

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Acts 1:8

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

June/July Update

Your love has given me much joy & comfort, my brother, for your kindness has often refreshed the hearts of God’s people. ~ Philemon 1:7

I love coming home to Calvary Mt. View Church in Utah! Especially because the kindness of the brethren, saints, church…family in Christ – it’s like refreshing water to a thirsty soul to a missionary.  Your kindness, your prayers, your support, love, laughs, words of encouragement, a simple wave ‘hello’… I hope you know, it goes deeper & enriches me more than you will ever know!

WHAT’S NEW:

It’s hard to believe it but it’s already the end of July - well first part of August by the time this hits the blog!

So far, my daughter Monica graduated from Bible College in Mexico in May, in June we were in Cuba, and today Monica has moved back home to Utah. I’m back on my yearly furlough, while Rebecca is serving this summer at Casa de Bendición Orphanage in Bachiniva, Chihuahua.

Thank you all for your steadfast support & prayers throughout the 6 years we have been in Latin America serving Mexico & Cuba! I can’t wait for you to see in Heaven how your investment built His Kingdom in this world. May he bless you double-fold!

THEMELIOS 1ST GENERATION

I'm so proud of these for men.  Carlos, Tomas, David, & Sergio became the first generation of men to go through Escuela Themelios - a vision given to raise up men with an intensive & focused set of classes, instruction, & internships to equip them into becoming men who will plant churches & lead others to reach Mexico & the world for Jesus!

CUBA 2015:

Our trip to Cuba was both spiritual & personal.  We had the blessing to be a part of Pastor Richard's daughter's quinceañera (like sweet 16 in America only on her 15th birthday).  This was a sweet time to honor her as she loves the Lord, is a straight A student and desires to study to be a Forensic Scientist. Cuban Quinceañeras, we found, are very different, very formal & regal and most of the night was more like a royal gala with MC & interpreter (yours truly). I felt like I was co-hosting the Ms. Cuba contest. I was even asked by the MC if I would give him my contact information so I could work with him again.  He was shocked that I wasn't Cuban. I was shocked that he thought I was. After all the formalities, the dancing and laughter lasted the rest of the night.  Such a fun time!

On the Spiritual side, as many of you know - 6 years ago when I first visited the Island on a missions trip, God pulled at my heart & soul for his people in Cuba.  For many years I have challenged God with the notion that it was simply an emotional state of having visited that country and met its people.  But as the years pass, the feeling does not. In fact in this last trip, God revealed to me His plans in my life for serving His people in Cuba.

Meet Carlos & Marlenis.  They are a young couple who serve faithfully at Calvary Chapel Havana.  Carlos serves alongside Pastor Richard as one of his leaders in audio/video as well as with the youth.  Marlenis who is also Richard's niece, serves in worship & childrens ministry.  They are both very dedicated to Gods work in Cuba and shared with me that they have a strong desire to raise the youth and the kids to be the next generation in Cuba who will Love the Lord & make him known throughout the island.  They desire to start a Bible College in their country but are now seeking ways to make that happen.  They first desire to go through a Bible College themselves in order to teach what they have learned.  This revelation was confirmation to me as to how I can help, having been serving for over 5 years at CCBC Mexico.  Today, we are looking for ways to get them into a Bible College and God's wisdom in it all.  We know he will open door no man can close and close those that are not from Him.  *PLEASE PRAY FOR THEM & THEIR DESIRE TO RAISE UP THE NEXT GENERATION WHO WILL TURN THEIR WORLD UPSIDE DOWN FOR JESUS!
